Srinagar, June 17, 2026 : In a significant move against the terror infrastructure operating in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday attached two plots of land belonging to a terror accused in Baramulla district under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to officials, the attached properties are located in Kanispora, Baramulla, and measure 7.5 marla (approximately 2,050 square feet) and 6 marla (approximately 1,632 square feet). The land parcels belong to Shaheen Ahmad Lone, who is an accused in an NIA case registered in 2020.
Officials stated that the attachment was executed following an order issued by the Designated NIA Court in Jammu under Section 33(1) of the UAPA, which empowers authorities to attach properties linked to unlawful and terrorist activities.
The action forms part of the NIA’s ongoing investigation into an alleged larger conspiracy involving the banned terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen and Pakistani state-backed elements accused of supporting and facilitating terrorist activities in India.
Investigators are probing a network linked to terror financing, illegal arms supply, and logistical support mechanisms allegedly used to sustain militant operations in the region. The case also relates to the interception of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists along with former Deputy Superintendent of Police Devender Singh, a development that had attracted nationwide attention when the case first surfaced.
Officials said the attachment of properties is aimed at dismantling the financial and logistical ecosystem that supports terrorism and preventing the use of assets for activities that threaten national security.
The NIA has reiterated its commitment to pursuing terror-related cases and taking legal action against individuals and entities found involved in financing, facilitating, or supporting terrorist networks.
Further investigation into the case remains underway.
