Mendhar, June 17, 2026 : In a significant enforcement action aimed at ensuring accountability in healthcare services, the Health Department, local administration, and police authorities on Tuesday sealed a private medical facility, Apex Health Care Clinic, situated opposite Dak Bungalow in Mendhar town of Poonch district, following allegations of serious irregularities and violations.
According to official sources, the action was carried out during a joint inspection conducted by Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mendhar, Dr. Gazala, along with the SHO Mendhar, a police team, and the Naib Tehsildar Mendhar.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, the BMO revealed that no qualified Eye Specialist was present at the clinic at the time of the visit. Instead, authorities found a BUMS doctor operating the facility. In view of the apparent discrepancies and in accordance with applicable regulations, the authorities decided to seal the clinic pending further investigation.
The development has drawn widespread attention across the region, with many local residents welcoming the administration’s action and demanding a thorough probe into the clinic’s operations. Residents alleged that members of the public may have been misled and financially exploited under the guise of specialized medical treatment.
“We have repeatedly raised concerns regarding the functioning of this clinic. A detailed investigation must be conducted to determine whether patients were being treated without the supervision or presence of qualified specialists,” several locals stated.
Residents further urged the Health Department and district administration to closely examine the clinic’s records, licenses, permissions, and treatment practices to establish accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Officials have confirmed that a detailed inquiry is currently underway. They stated that further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and any violations established during the course of the probe.
The incident has once again highlighted the importance of strict regulatory oversight in the healthcare sector and the need to ensure that medical facilities operate in full compliance with prescribed standards to safeguard public health and trust.
