Bandipora, June 17, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday firmly asserted that the National Conference would never compromise its principles or trade its values for political power, emphasizing that the party’s ideology and commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir remain non-negotiable.
Speaking to media persons during his visit to Bandipora district to review ongoing developmental works, Omar Abdullah responded to questions regarding reports of Members of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Shiv Sena (UBT) extending support to the NDA on certain issues.
Making the National Conference’s position clear, Omar stated that no political offer, alliance, or changing political equation could persuade the party to abandon its core principles.
“No matter what is offered to us or who chooses to support the NDA, the National Conference will not sell its morals and values,” Omar Abdullah said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the National Conference has a long-standing political legacy rooted in its commitment to the people and that its decisions will continue to be guided by ideology rather than political expediency.
“We have our own principles and political legacy. We will continue to stand by them irrespective of changing political equations,” he added.
During his visit, Omar Abdullah inaugurated and reviewed multiple development projects worth nearly ₹300 crore across various sectors, underscoring his government’s focus on infrastructure development and public welfare.
Highlighting the administration’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people, the Chief Minister said that his government remains focused on ensuring that developmental benefits reach every section of society and contribute to improving the quality of life across Jammu and Kashmir.
As part of the visit, Omar also interacted with several public delegations who brought forth issues concerning road connectivity, drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare facilities, employment opportunities, and other civic concerns.
Taking note of the grievances and demands raised by the public, the Chief Minister directed concerned officials to examine the issues thoroughly and ensure that genuine concerns are addressed on priority.
He maintained that governance, development, and public welfare continue to remain at the forefront of the government’s agenda.
The Chief Minister further stated that the ongoing projects across the Union Territory are expected to strengthen infrastructure, improve public services, and accelerate socio-economic growth in both urban and rural areas.
Reaffirming the National Conference’s political stance, Omar Abdullah said the party’s future decisions would continue to be shaped by its commitment to safeguarding the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir rather than short-term political gains.
His remarks come amid evolving national political dynamics, with the Chief Minister making it clear that the National Conference remains steadfast in its ideological position and dedicated to serving the aspirations of the people.
