MAYOR & OTHERS INAUGURATES ISWM GARBAGE TRANSFER STATION AT UDHAYWALA JAMMU

Jammu April 16: Continuing his endeavour to provide more civic & development amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor JMC alongwith Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor in presence of Sh. Mohinder Kumar Bhagat Councilor of ward no. 61, today on 16/04/2022 inaugurated a Modern Integrated Solid Waste Management Garbage Transfer Station at Udhaywala Jammu. Sh. Neeraj Vaid Assistant Executive Engineer, Sh. K.K Bali Assistant Engineer & other supervisory staff of Project Division & Health Section of ward no. 61 of JMC as well as other prominent inhabitants of Udhaywala & its adjoining localities were remained present there during the inauguration function. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor told that JMC is committed to provide better sanitation facilities in all the wards of the city and all the Municipal Councilors in coordination with JMC staff is working as a team from the last more than three & half years when they were elected as Councillors of JMC so that Jammu can be made really a smart city. He further told that the construction work of this Garbage Transfer center was started about a few months back & has been completed with the requisite amenities & allied activities with the construction of approach road measuring about 100 meters by linking with main road & has been inaugurated today with an expenditure of about Rs 29 lacs only

He further said that, more such type of Garbage Transfer centers under Solid waste management will be constructed in various parts of the city where sufficient land is available so that the Municipal Autos engaged in door to door garbage collection in different wards be carried at these Garbage Transfer stations for its further disposal with the help of compactors in a very scientific and planned manner. He also appeal to the general public to come forward & cooperate with the JMC in keeping their localities neat, clean and green, do not throw garbage, waste materials on the roadside, handover the same to the designated municipal vehicles and adopt the habit of segregation of dry & wet waste at their own level so that the aim of Swachh Bharat Mission can be achieved successfully.

Deputy Mayor while speaking on the occasion also threw light on the working as well as importance of these Garbage Transfer Stations where compactors, sucker machines are deployed for proper sucking of liquid waste and than its final disposal to the designated solid waste management plant

Mohinder Kumar Bhagat while speaking on the Occasion also shared various development activities being undertaken in his ward & assured inhabitants that remaining development works will be executed in the next capex as early as possible
