New Delhi, Jul 13, 2025: Sneha Debnath, a 19-year-old student from Sabroom in South Tripura district, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances in New Delhi, prompting swift intervention from Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, who has directed police to take immediate and appropriate action.
In an official statement posted on social media, the Tripura Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed the incident:
“The report of Miss Sneha Debnath, a resident of Sabroom, who has reportedly gone missing in New Delhi, has come to the notice of the Chief Minister’s Office. Necessary instructions have been promptly issued to the police.”
Last Known Movements
Sneha, a student at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi University, was last in contact with her family on July 7. She reportedly told her mother she was accompanying a friend, Pitunia, to Sarai Rohilla Railway Station. Her final phone call was made at 5:56 AM.
Concerns escalated when her phone was switched off by 8:45 AM, and later revelations confirmed that Pitunia never met her that morning.
A breakthrough came when a cab driver, traced by the family, stated he had dropped Sneha near Delhi’s Signature Bridge — a location with known safety concerns and inadequate CCTV coverage, hampering investigative efforts.
Search Operations Underway
On July 9, the Delhi Police Crime Branch, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), launched an extensive search across a 7-kilometre radius of the Signature Bridge area. However, no significant leads have been found yet.
The family remains alarmed. Sneha left home without her belongings, and her bank account has remained inactive for four months, with no recent withdrawals — raising further red flags about her disappearance.
Authorities have issued a public appeal seeking any information related to her whereabouts. The case remains under active investigation, and the search operation continues to intensify.
