MUMBAI, April 22, 2026 : Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde paid a heartfelt tribute to Syed Adil Hussain Shah, the ponywallah who lost his life in the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, stating that his sacrifice for humanity has been immortalised in the nation’s history.

Adil Shah, one of the 26 victims of the brutal attack at Baisaran Valley, displayed extraordinary courage by attempting to snatch a terrorist’s rifle before being shot dead. His act of bravery, Shinde said, transcended religion, language, and creed, making him a symbol of national pride.

Honouring his sacrifice, a newly constructed house was handed over to Shah’s family in his native village Hapatnar in Pahalgam. Named ‘Anand Nath Sadan’ after Shiv Sena mentor Anand Dighe, the house stands not just as shelter, but as a tribute to a life laid down for others.

Shinde, who addressed the event via video conferencing, recalled that immediate financial assistance of ₹5 lakh was provided to the family after the attack, along with a promise of a home — a promise now fulfilled. He emphasized that the nation will always remember Adil not just as a victim, but as a hero who stood up against terror.

The Deputy CM also highlighted efforts made to evacuate stranded tourists after the attack and assured continued support for boosting tourism in Kashmir. Local leaders reiterated that the gesture reflects commitment beyond politics, standing in solidarity with the bereaved family.

Moved by the gesture, Shah’s family expressed deep gratitude, saying the house represents not just a home, but dignity, honour, and unwavering support in their time of loss.
