SRINAGAR, April 23, 2026 : In a major push against drug trafficking, Shopian Police have deployed a Narcotic Dog Squad to strengthen enforcement under the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan’.
In coordination with the CRPF 14th Battalion, trained sniffer dogs are being used at multiple checkpoints to detect concealed narcotics and assist in identifying drug peddlers.
Officials said the canine unit plays a key role in uncovering hidden contraband, enabling timely seizures and arrests, while acting as a strong deterrent against illegal drug trade.
Alongside enforcement, authorities are also running awareness campaigns to promote a drug-free society. Intensified vehicle checking is underway across the district, with strict monitoring at naka points.
