JAMMU, April 23, 2026 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday stressed the urgent need to transform India’s education system, stating that a marks-centric approach that sidelines arts, sports, and skills is “unfit for the future.”
Inaugurating a new school building at Swami Pranavanand Vidyamandir in Panjgrain, Nagrota, Sinha urged educators to prepare students for a rapidly evolving world driven by AI and automation. He emphasized the importance of creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and lifelong learning as essential human capacities.
Highlighting the role of education in nation-building, the Lt Governor called for fostering cultural awareness, democratic values, and collaboration among students. He noted that every child—whether talented in academics, arts, sports, or entrepreneurship—deserves equal respect and opportunity.
Sinha also underlined the transformative potential of the National Education Policy (NEP), stating that it will help shape India into a leading global knowledge economy.
The newly inaugurated infrastructure, supported by Bharat Sevashram Sangha along with oil PSUs and donors, is expected to expand access to quality education, benefiting over 1,500 students and boosting the local economy.
