Dehradun, September 28, 2026 : The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has resumed following an improvement in weather conditions, after the pilgrimage was suspended for two days as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of pilgrims and travellers.
The pilgrimage had been suspended from the afternoon of September 26 through September 27 following an adverse weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Yatra Resumes After Weather Improvement
Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swarup said on Monday that the pilgrimage has now restarted after weather conditions improved across the region.
The temporary suspension was implemented as a safety measure in view of the IMD forecast and the potential risks associated with adverse weather conditions in the Himalayan region.
Guidelines Issued to District Magistrates
According to the official, authorities have issued necessary guidelines to concerned District Magistrates following the resumption of the pilgrimage.
The administration is expected to continue monitoring weather conditions and coordinate arrangements to ensure the safety of pilgrims travelling towards the Char Dham shrines.
The Char Dham circuit comprises Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, which attract large numbers of pilgrims during the annual pilgrimage season.
Authorities have urged stakeholders to remain attentive to weather advisories and follow official instructions as the yatra continues.
