Jammu, April 28, 2026 : In a continued effort to maintain public order, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district have detained a notorious criminal under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
The accused, identified as Mohd Yousaf from Salwah in Mendhar tehsil, has a long criminal record with multiple FIRs registered against him at the Mendhar police station.
According to officials, despite repeated legal action in the past, he continued to engage in unlawful and anti-social activities, posing a threat to peace in Mendhar and nearby areas.
Acting on his persistent involvement in criminal acts, authorities prepared a detailed dossier which led to the approval of his detention under the PSA by the competent authority.
He has now been lodged in District Jail Rajouri.
Police stated that the move is part of ongoing efforts to curb activities that threaten public order, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region.
