Jammu, June 19, 2026 : Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Friday conducted an extensive inspection of the ongoing construction work on the new Legislative Assembly building in Jammu, reiterating the government’s commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the prestigious project while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
During his visit to the project site, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the progress achieved so far and assessed various components of the construction work being executed at the new Assembly complex. He interacted with officers and engineers associated with the project and sought updates regarding timelines, construction milestones, and overall implementation.
Emphasizing the significance of the project, Surinder Choudhary described the new Legislative Assembly building as an important public infrastructure initiative and a symbol of democratic governance in Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that the facility will serve as a key institution for legislative functioning and public representation in the years ahead.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to accelerate the pace of construction and ensure that all pending works are completed within the stipulated timeframe. He also called for close coordination among stakeholders to avoid delays and facilitate smooth execution of the project.

Deputy CM Condoles Demise of Former DDC Member’s Husband
Later in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister visited Bajalta, Jammu, to offer his condolences to former District Development Council (DDC) Member Shameema Begum on the passing of her husband.
Expressing deep sympathy with the bereaved family, Choudhary conveyed his heartfelt condolences and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. He shared the family’s grief and prayed for strength and courage for them to overcome the profound loss.
Several senior officers, engineers, local representatives, and officials accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during both engagements.
The visit reflected the government’s focus on strengthening key public infrastructure projects while also maintaining close engagement with citizens and public representatives across the region.
