Jammu, June 17, 2026 : In a major crackdown on narco-terrorism and organized drug trafficking, Jammu Police has dismantled a significant interstate narcotics network by arresting three key operatives from Amritsar, Punjab, and recovering a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, suspected heroin, cash, and vehicles during a coordinated intelligence-based operation.
The arrested accused have been identified as Surajdeep Singh alias Suraj, a resident of Jandiala, Harpreet Singh alias Raju, and Jaspreet. The arrests were made in connection with multiple cases registered under FIR No. 51/2026 at Police Station Miran Sahib, FIR No. 58/2026 at Police Station Bishnah, FIR No. 137/2026 at Police Station Nagrota, and FIR No. 48/2026 at Police Station Gangyal.
According to police officials, the trio allegedly served as major suppliers of narcotic substances to Jammu district and were believed to be responsible for supplying nearly 80 percent of the drugs trafficked into the district. The operation was launched following sustained surveillance, technical monitoring, and extensive intelligence-led investigations.
Investigators revealed that the accused were part of the backward-link network associated with notorious narcotics trafficker Lau Gujjar and his associates operating across Jammu and Kashmir. The breakthrough came after the investigation of several NDPS cases and the interrogation of previously arrested accused, including Lateef, Bachu, Majeeda, and Mushtaq, which helped police trace the supply chain to Suraj and Raju.
Police stated that the accused allegedly supplied narcotics to nearly 20 forward links operating across Jammu district and adjoining areas of Samba and Kathua, making them crucial figures in the larger drug distribution network.
The operation was jointly conducted by teams from the Emergency Support Unit (ESU) Jammu, Police Station Miran Sahib, investigating officers from Bishnah and Miran Sahib, with active assistance from the Punjab Police. Extensive searches were carried out at multiple locations linked to the accused.
During the searches, law enforcement agencies recovered a significant quantity of arms and ammunition, including:
- One AK-47 rifle
- 40 live rounds of ammunition
- One Star pistol
- 29 live pistol cartridges
- Four live 12-bore cartridges
Police also seized approximately 1.020 kilograms of suspected heroin, along with an electronic weighing machine, packing material, and adhesive tape allegedly used for packaging and distribution of narcotics.
In addition, authorities recovered approximately ₹11 lakh in cash, believed to be proceeds of the illegal trade, along with three mobile phones and three vehicles, including a Mahindra Thar, Honda Amaze, and Maruti Swift, which were allegedly used for transportation and logistical support of the criminal network.
Senior police officials described the operation as a major success in the fight against narco-terrorism and cross-border drug trafficking. They emphasized that the seizure of both narcotics and weapons highlights the dangerous nexus between organized drug networks and activities that pose a threat to public security.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals, while further investigations are underway to identify additional associates, financial channels, and other links connected to the larger syndicate.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating drug trafficking networks and combating narco-terror activities, asserting that strict action will continue against those involved in the menace. Officials said sustained efforts are being made to dismantle such networks, protect youth from drug abuse, and ensure a safer and drug-free society.
