Baramulla:- Janata Dal United (JD(U)) candidate for the Kreeri-Wagoora Assembly constituency, Ms. Rehana Shah, visited Kalantra village of Baramula district on today as part of her ongoing campaign for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Engaging with local delegations, Ms. Shah addressed key issues faced by the village, including youth unemployment, infrastructure gaps, and rising electricity costs.
While speaking to the media, Ms. Shah highlighted the success of her door-to-door outreach, emphasizing the community’s positive reception. “Alhamdulillah, people are joining us during the campaign, and the response has been very good,” she remarked.
Ms. Shah expressed deep concern over the struggles of the region’s youth, noting the lack of resources and opportunities. “These young people are old enough to work as diggers but remain jobless due to the failures of traditional politicians. They feel dispossessed and abandoned,” she explained. She criticized past governments, including the National Conference (NC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Congress, for neglecting basic rights such as jobs, road connectivity, and recreational spaces for the youth.
“They have ruled for 70 years and yet failed to provide even playgrounds or roads. This is a great disservice to the people,” she added.
Ms. Shah also accused local leaders of political opportunism, frequently switching allegiances between parties without delivering on their promises. If elected, she pledged bold reforms, including the creation of 200,000 jobs in a single day, cancellation of pending electricity bills, and provision of 200-300 units of free electricity to residents.
She also committed to restoring Article 370 and statehood, promising that JD(U) would deliver where other parties have failed. “To bring back Article 370, you need a majority. NC, PDP, and others don’t have it. We will get statehood back if you support us,” she asserted.
When asked about Jamaat-e-Islami, Ms. Rehana Shah stated, “Those who are good, who are dedicated, who are honest, whether it is Jamaat-e-Islami or someone else, should set aside their egos and participate in the election. We welcome them,” she said.
