Srinagar, July 30, 2026 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a ₹18.96 crore Water Supply Scheme for Pulwama town, marking a significant step towards strengthening the town’s drinking water infrastructure and improving access to safe and reliable water for residents.
The project has received administrative approval under the Urban Development Sector (DULBK) Capex Budget 2026–27.
Boost to Drinking Water Infrastructure
The new scheme aims to:
- 💧 Improve the drinking water supply network in Pulwama town.
- 🏗️ Strengthen existing water infrastructure.
- 🚰 Ensure a more reliable and efficient supply of potable water to residents.
- 🌆 Support the growing urban population with better civic amenities.
Implementation Guidelines
According to the Housing and Urban Development Department, the project will be executed in accordance with the approved technical specifications and will adhere to all prescribed government guidelines.
The department said the implementation will be subject to:
- Availability of funds.
- Compliance with approved technical standards.
- Timely execution and quality control measures.
The government expects the project to significantly enhance water supply services in Pulwama and improve the quality of life for residents by ensuring better access to safe drinking water.
The approval reflects the administration’s continued focus on upgrading urban infrastructure and strengthening essential public services across Jammu and Kashmir.
