The reshuffle, approved by the Police Headquarters (PHQ), Srinagar, follows the recent promotion of a batch of officers to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police and is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to streamline deployments and optimize manpower across the Union Territory.
According to the official order, the 28 newly promoted DSPs have been assigned postings in a range of specialized and operational wings, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Crime Branch, Special Investigation Agency (SIA), Armed Police, Security Wing, Railway Police, Police Training Schools, and other important units functioning across Jammu and Kashmir.
The appointments are expected to strengthen investigative capabilities, improve supervisory oversight, and enhance the overall functioning of various police establishments.
Simultaneously, the Police Headquarters ordered the transfer and fresh posting of 32 serving DSPs across multiple districts and specialized units. The transfers cover several critical divisions, including the CID, Traffic Police, Security Wing, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Special Operations Group (SOG), Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) battalions, and district police organizations.

The move is also expected to bolster policing capabilities in areas related to intelligence gathering, counter-narcotics operations, crime investigation, traffic management, security arrangements, and counter-insurgency responsibilities.
Police officials noted that periodic transfers and adjustments form an essential part of organizational management, helping to bring fresh perspectives, maintain operational effectiveness, and address evolving security and administrative challenges.
The latest reshuffle is among the notable personnel adjustments undertaken by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in recent months as the force continues to strengthen its institutional framework and enhance public service delivery.
