Lucknow/Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), June 15, 2026 : Ram Temple Construction Committee Chairperson Nripendra Mishra on Monday emphasized that there would be no compromise in the investigation into allegations of theft of donation money linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, assuring devotees that a thorough and transparent inquiry is underway.
Speaking to reporters, Mishra said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government would examine both the criminal aspects of the allegations and identify measures needed to strengthen future financial management systems.
“There are two aspects to this investigation — the criminal aspect and future improvements. Only when both are properly addressed will we be able to fully win the trust and confidence of devotees,” Mishra said.
Focus on Transparency and Accountability
Mishra revealed that he had already spoken with the district administration and sought its cooperation to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
Describing the situation as a critical moment for the temple administration, he stressed that the inquiry would be conducted collectively and transparently.
“This is a team effort. In many ways, this is a crossroads for the temple administration, and we will move forward by addressing all concerns responsibly,” he added.
Uttar Pradesh Government Constitutes SIT
The Uttar Pradesh government on June 13 constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) following a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust itself.
According to the government, the trust sought an impartial investigation to establish the facts surrounding the allegations and to counter what it described as misinformation aimed at damaging the image and reputation of the Ram Temple.
The SIT comprises:
• Vijay Vishwas Pant, Divisional Commissioner, Lucknow
• Kiran S, Inspector General of Police
• Neel Ratan, Special Secretary, Finance Department
The team has been tasked with examining the allegations relating to donation funds and reviewing financial management procedures associated with the trust.
Allegations Spark Political Debate
The controversy gained attention on June 7, when Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav referred to media reports alleging that crores of rupees received as donations at the Ram Temple were unaccounted for.
Yadav urged judicial authorities to take cognisance of the matter and ensure a transparent investigation into the allegations.
In response, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai stated that internal audits were already underway and maintained that no evidence had emerged to substantiate claims of financial irregularities.
Trust Seeks Independent Verification
Temple authorities have reiterated that they welcome an independent investigation to verify all facts and maintain public confidence in the management of one of India’s most prominent religious institutions.
The SIT is expected to examine financial records, donation management systems, accounting procedures, and any allegations related to fund handling.
Officials believe that a transparent inquiry will help address public concerns while strengthening governance and accountability mechanisms for the future.
Devotees Await Findings
The Ram Temple remains a symbol of faith for millions of devotees across India and abroad. Given the significance of the institution, the findings of the SIT investigation are expected to be closely watched by religious leaders, devotees, political observers, and the general public.
Authorities have assured that the investigation will be conducted fairly and objectively, with all facts being thoroughly examined before any conclusions are drawn.
