NEW DELHI, June 12, 2026 : Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a strong attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of remaining silent over the deaths of three Indian nationals in recent American strikes on commercial vessels operating in international waters.
In a sharply worded post on social media platform X, Gandhi questioned the Prime Minister’s response to the deaths and alleged that the government had failed to adequately speak up for Indian citizens killed abroad.
Rahul Gandhi Questions PM’s Silence
Claiming that three Indians had lost their lives in three separate attacks over the past three days, Gandhi criticized what he described as the Prime Minister’s lack of public response.
“Three Indians have died in three American attacks on ships in international waters in three days. And our compromised PM — not a single word,” Gandhi wrote.
The Congress leader argued that it is the responsibility of the country’s leadership to raise its voice whenever Indian citizens are killed by a foreign power.
According to Gandhi, the Prime Minister should publicly address such incidents and seek accountability when Indian lives are lost.
Criticism Ahead of G7 Summit
Rahul Gandhi also linked the issue to Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming participation in the G7 Summit, suggesting that diplomatic engagements should not overshadow concerns regarding the deaths of Indian nationals.
He alleged that despite the recent fatalities, the Prime Minister would continue high-level interactions with world leaders without publicly addressing the issue.
‘Compromised PM’ Remark
Escalating his criticism, Gandhi referred to the Prime Minister as a “Compromised PM”, alleging that the government lacked the resolve to confront those responsible for the deaths of Indian sailors.
He further claimed that the Prime Minister’s silence reflected an unwillingness to challenge powerful international actors despite the loss of Indian lives.

The remarks come amid growing political debate over the deaths of Indian seafarers aboard commercial vessels operating in international waters.
The Congress party has sought to portray the government’s response as inadequate, while the issue is expected to draw further political attention in the coming days as questions are raised regarding the safety of Indian maritime workers and the government’s diplomatic response.
