Mendhar/Jammu, September 23, 2026 : Security forces on Wednesday detected and safely defused three landmines at two forward villages near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
An Army patrolling party detected two rusted landmines at Phagwara Gali in the Mendhar sector and immediately alerted the Bomb Disposal Squad. The mines were subsequently neutralised safely without causing any damage, officials said.
In a separate incident, an anti-personnel mine was spotted by an Army patrol at Qasba village in Haveli tehsil. The Bomb Disposal Squad safely defused the mine at the site.
The latest recoveries come a day after Army personnel detected and destroyed three more landmines in a forward village in the Mendhar sector.
The repeated detection of mines in forward areas has prompted heightened vigilance by security forces deployed along the LoC to ensure the safety of troops and civilians in vulnerable border areas.
