RAMBAN/JAMMU, June 09, 2026 : Two personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) sustained injuries after a bus carrying security forces for Amarnath Yatra duty was involved in a multi-vehicle collision on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district on Tuesday, officials said.
According to officials, the bus was transporting BSF personnel from Jammu to Anantnag for deployment in connection with the upcoming Amarnath Yatra when the accident occurred near Peerah along the busy highway.
The bus reportedly first collided with a passenger vehicle, a Maruti Ertiga, before subsequently crashing into a tractor-trolley, resulting in injuries to two BSF personnel and causing temporary disruption to traffic movement on the strategic highway.
The injured personnel were identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjeet Kumar and Head Constable Arveen Kumar, both of whom sustained minor injuries in the incident. They were immediately shifted to the District Hospital Ramban for medical treatment.
Officials confirmed that the condition of both injured personnel is stable and that they are receiving appropriate medical care.
The accident briefly affected vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, with the impacted stretch remaining partially blocked for some time. Authorities promptly launched clearance operations, and the damaged vehicles were removed from the roadway to restore normal traffic flow.
Meanwhile, police and concerned authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the collision.
The incident comes amid heightened security preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra, during which thousands of security personnel are deployed across Jammu and Kashmir to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
