Jammu, April 27, 2026 : Separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah was produced before a special NIA court in Jammu on Monday, where his remand was extended by an additional 10 days in connection with a decades-old terror case.
Shah, who was earlier in custody for 10 days, appeared in court as his previous remand period ended. During the hearing, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) requested further custody to continue questioning, which the court granted after reviewing the submissions.
The case dates back to 1996 and involves a terrorist attack on policemen during a militant’s funeral procession. Shah was arrested by the NIA’s Srinagar unit on April 17 in Delhi and later brought to Jammu following transit remand approval.
Meanwhile, Shah has also filed a bail application, which is expected to be considered in the upcoming hearing.
Notably, the separatist leader was recently released on bail after spending nearly seven years in prison in connection with other cases, making this development significant in ongoing investigations.
