Ramban/Jammu, July , 2025: nAt least 36 Amarnath pilgrims sustained minor injuries when five buses, part of a convoy heading to the Pahalgam base camp, collided near Chanderkote on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway early Saturday. The mishap occurred around 8 AM due to a reported brake failure in one of the buses.
All injured devotees, hailing from states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, received prompt medical aid at Ramban District Hospital and rejoined the Yatra after treatment, officials confirmed.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha termed it a minor incident, stating, “By Lord Shiva’s blessings, all pilgrims are safe.” He directed officials to enhance safety checks on Yatra vehicles, ensure availability of essential supplies along the route, and stay alert to avoid further mishaps.
The swift response of the Ramban administration, CRPF’s 84 Battalion medical unit, and local health teams was lauded. Damaged buses were quickly replaced and the convoy resumed its journey towards the holy cave.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh also took stock of the situation, assuring that there is no cause for concern and arrangements remain under close supervision.
Earlier in the day, the fourth batch of 6,979 pilgrims had departed from Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp, with 4,226 heading for Pahalgam and 2,753 for the Baltal route.
