New Delhi, April 28, 2026 : In a major breakthrough against international drug networks, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has successfully secured the return of notorious drug trafficker Mohammad Salim Dola from Turkiye, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Tuesday.
Dola, who had been absconding for years, was arrested in Turkiye based on an Interpol Red Notice issued at India’s request in March 2024. He was brought back under “Operation Global-Hunt” and taken into custody upon arrival at IGI Airport in New Delhi.
Lauding the operation, Amit Shah подчеркнул (emphasized) the government’s zero-tolerance policy against drug cartels, stating that Indian agencies are now actively pursuing narcotics fugitives across borders through strong global coordination.
Dola, a known associate of international terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, is accused of running a vast transnational drug trafficking network spanning the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. His criminal history includes involvement in major drug seizures involving heroin, charas, mephedrone, mandrax, and methamphetamine.
According to officials, he played a key role as a bulk supplier feeding illegal drug distribution networks within India, with cases registered in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The operation highlights close cooperation between Indian agencies, Interpol, and authorities in Turkiye, reinforcing India’s commitment to dismantling global narcotics syndicates.
