Rajouri, April 28, 2026 : In a strict administrative action, District Panchayat Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, has suspended Block Development Officer (BDO) Plangher, Mohtshim Hanief, with immediate effect over poor progress in the Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision-2026.
Officials stated that the officer, who was also serving as Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, had received multiple warnings earlier regarding slow progress. Despite clear instructions and targets—including achieving a 4% addition in electoral rolls during special camps held on April 25 and 26—the required benchmarks were not met.
The officer is accused of failing to properly discharge duties, leading to delays, incomplete revision work, non-compliance with guidelines, and inadequate supervision of field staff.
Authorities noted that these lapses impacted the integrity and reliability of the electoral revision process, prompting immediate suspension pending further inquiry.
During the suspension period, the officer has been attached to the office of the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Rajouri and has been directed not to leave headquarters without prior permission.
