SRINAGAR, May 26, 2026 : Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday visited the residence of the 12-year-old girl who was found murdered in Budgam district and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
The minor girl was found dead in the Galwanpora area of Budgam on Sunday, a day after she had reportedly gone missing, triggering widespread shock and grief across the region.
During his visit, Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and prayed for strength and patience for the grieving family during this difficult time.
The Chief Minister stated that the incident had shaken the conscience of society and said that such criminal elements have no place in a civilised society. He assured the family that the accused would face strict legal action in accordance with the law.
Police have arrested one person in connection with the case, reportedly a neighbour of the victim, as the investigation continues.
The incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stronger measures to ensure the safety and protection of children.
