SRINAGAR, April 30, 2026 : The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet in a major fraud case involving fake promises of land allotment and government jobs.
The chargesheet, linked to FIR No. 84/2022 under Section 420 RPC, has been submitted before the Court of Judge Small Causes Srinagar against accused Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Astanpora Tailbal, Hazratbal.
💰 How the Fraud Unfolded
According to investigators, the accused:
- Collected large sums of money from multiple victims in January 2019
- Promised Jammu Development Authority (JDA) land allotments
- Assured government jobs for relatives
- Failed to deliver on both commitments
The probe established that the accused intentionally deceived victims and extracted money through false assurances, confirming the offence of cheating.

After a detailed investigation, EOW Kashmir gathered sufficient evidence and filed the chargesheet before the competent court for further judicial proceedings.
