KISHTWAR, June 6, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday led a massive anti-drug padyatra in Kishtwar, marking the culmination of the Union Territory-wide ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan’ and reaffirming the administration’s resolve to eradicate drug abuse and dismantle narco-terror networks operating in the region.
The padyatra witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, students, youth groups, civil society members and government officials, who collectively pledged to support the vision of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the anti-drug campaign, which has traversed 19 districts over the last 56 days, has evolved into a powerful grassroots movement, touching countless lives and generating widespread public awareness against the menace of narcotics.
“Today, as the Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir campaign culminates in a massive padyatra in Kishtwar, citizens have resoundingly reaffirmed their commitment to the cause. Our goal is to build a strong grassroots resistance against drug abuse and put an end to narco-terrorism,” Sinha said.
The LG emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir becomes stronger when its people unite against social evils and work collectively toward a safer and healthier future.
“Every voice matters, every action counts, and together we can create a secure, healthy and prosperous Union Territory for future generations,” he said.
Taking a strong stand against narcotics trafficking and terror financing, Sinha asserted that the administration is systematically dismantling the entire drug supply chain and targeting those involved in the illegal trade.
“We are breaking the chain of the drug trade at every single link. Whether it is cross-border smugglers, local peddlers or terror financiers, there is no safe haven for them. Our agencies are relentlessly pursuing every narco-terrorist and permanently dismantling their networks,” he stated.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that the fight against drugs is not merely a law enforcement issue but a social responsibility requiring active participation from every section of society.
Highlighting the importance of youth in shaping the future of Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha called for collective efforts to protect young people from the dangers of addiction and provide them with opportunities to realize their full potential.
“Our future belongs to our youth, and it is our shared responsibility to ensure they grow in a drug-free environment. Jammu and Kashmir’s young leaders are unstoppable when they rise above addiction. Let us empower them to dream bigger, live stronger and lead with purpose,” he said.
The LG also warned that those engaged in drug trafficking and terror financing would face strict legal action and be brought to justice.
Calling for community participation, Sinha urged mothers, sisters and daughters to become vigilant protectors of their villages, towns and neighborhoods, while encouraging students and young people to act as guardians of their schools, colleges and communities in the campaign against drug abuse.
The padyatra concluded with a collective pledge by participants to strengthen the fight against narcotics and contribute towards building a drug-free, healthy and progressive Jammu and Kashmir.
