JAMMU, May 21, 2026 : The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited tenders for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed four-lane Katra–Reasi–Mahore–Gulabgarh–Nandimarg–Kulgam highway corridor, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at strengthening connectivity between Jammu and South Kashmir.
According to official documents, the proposed highway corridor will connect with NH-44 and pass through several remote and mountainous regions of Jammu & Kashmir, significantly improving transportation infrastructure across the Union Territory.
The tender for consultancy services has been issued by NHAI’s Regional Office Jammu under reference number JKDIV/14/2025-NHAI-RO Jammu/E 290669.
Officials said the ambitious project is expected to enhance inter-regional connectivity, reduce travel time and provide a major boost to tourism, trade and economic activities in districts located along the proposed route.
The planned corridor is also expected to improve all-weather road connectivity to remote areas including Mahore, Gulabgarh and Nandimarg, which often face accessibility challenges due to difficult terrain, landslides and harsh weather conditions.
As part of the consultancy assignment, the DPR preparation will include feasibility studies, traffic analysis, alignment planning, engineering design, environmental assessments and other technical evaluations necessary for execution of the project.
Authorities believe the proposed highway could become a strategic road link connecting important regions of Jammu and Kashmir while improving mobility, accessibility and regional development.
NHAI has invited bids through an open tender process, with the last date for submission of bids fixed as June 22, 2026.
