SRINAGAR, April 23, 2026 : BJP leader Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Thursday demanded an apology from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his alleged remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling them an “attack on crores of Indians.”
Addressing a press conference, Rathore termed the comments as “verbal violence” against a constitutional post and said such statements reflect political frustration. He asserted that criticism of the Prime Minister equates to disrespecting the mandate given by millions of voters.
Rathore also said such remarks undermine democratic and cultural values, urging strong condemnation from across the political spectrum.
On other issues, he welcomed the Supreme Court’s observations regarding developments in West Bengal, calling it a “victory of truth,” and expressed hope for peaceful polling with enhanced security deployment.
Speaking on Jammu and Kashmir, Rathore reiterated that restoration of statehood will follow due process, while also criticizing opposition parties for creating hurdles in the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill.
